About Eat HomePlates

Connecting kitchens, building community

We believe the best meals come from real kitchens, not assembly lines. Eat HomePlates is a platform that connects local, permitted home cooks with their neighbors, bringing the warmth of a home-cooked meal to every table in California and Utah.

Our Mission

Every neighbor deserves a home-cooked meal

We connect local cooks with their neighbors to share real, homemade food. Every cook on our platform is strictly required to hold either a MEHKO permit (Microenterprise Home Kitchen Operations) or a Cottage Food license.

These aren't just guidelines. They're state-mandated certifications that ensure every kitchen has been inspected, every cook has been trained, and every meal meets professional safety standards.

Safety & Standards

Professional safety for every home kitchen

Licenses aren't just paperwork. They ensure professional-grade safety standards for every meal prepared. Here's what every Eat HomePlates kitchen must maintain.

Handwashing

Dedicated handwashing sink stocked with liquid soap and single-use paper towels at all times.

Cleaning & Sanitation

All food contact surfaces sanitized with a solution of 1 tsp bleach per gallon of water before and after every prep.

Waste Management

Kitchen trash removed daily to an outdoor lidded bin to prevent pests.

Proper Storage

Raw meat always stored on the bottom shelf of the refrigerator, below produce and cooked items.

Pet Policy

No pets allowed in the kitchen or dining area during food preparation or service hours.
